Performing more than 100 concerts annually, the sisters of the Ahn Trio, violinist Angella, and twins Lucia (piano) and Maria (cello), captivate the intellect and emotions of a global audience. Originally from Korea, the Trio rose to prominence in 1987 when they were featured in Time magazine. Passionately dedicated to contemporary music, the Ahn Trio has commissioned many significant additions to the repertory.
The program for Groovebox provides an exciting sequel to their previous album Ahn-Plugged. Featured are fresh compositions written for the Ahn Trio by Kenji Bunch, Maurice Jarre, and Michael Nyman, as well as two Michal Rataj arrangements including "Riders on the Storm," and an Astor Piazolla tango entitled "Milonga De Angel."
